Bart Perkins

Bart Perkins has more than 30 years’ experience leading IT efforts for major corporations and consulting firms, serving global organizations ranging from nonprofits to Fortune 500 firms. Mr. Perkins specializes in helping companies manage IT challenges such as program prioritization, program management, strategic planning, IT organization, and IT governance. His experience includes formulating global IT strategy; aligning IT objectives, strategy, and costs with business goals; creating IT organization structures to support IT strategies; defining the IT competencies required to successfully deliver the IT plan; creating metrics to monitor progress against plan; and creating management forums such as executive steering committees and IT leadership councils to review metrics and undertake appropriate actions.

Mr. Perkins also has extensive management consulting experience. He is currently a partner with Leverage Partners. Previously, he was a partner at KPMG Peat Marwick and an early member of the Nolan, Norton & Co. management consulting staff. His consulting career spans diverse industries and not-for-profits. Mr. Perkins is also a former CIO of YUM! Brands, parent to KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell, where he created a culture change program, making IT more customer-focused and helping staff accept new methods of operation due to spinoffs, globalization, and shared services. Prior to that role, he was the CIO of Dole Food Company, where he established the IT Preferred Vendor Program, saving more than US $1 million in its first year. In addition, he initiated electronic customer linkage, streamlining the supply chain from the field to the grocery shelf.

Mr. Perkins writes a monthly column on IT management for Computerworld and is a judge for CIO magazine’s CIO 100. He serves on the board of directors of i360technologies, Discourse Analytics, and American Printing House for the Blind and the University of Louisville’s Department of Computer Engineering.
