In the early 1980s, I participated in one round of methodology debate. Structured analysis and design champions such as Tom DeMarco, Ed Yourdon, and Tim Lister were on one side of the debate, while data-driven design aficionados like Ken Orr, Jean-Dominique Warnier, Michael Jackson (not the singer), and myself were on the other. It was debate, but a collegial one.
