INTRODUCTION

We are constantly reminded of the importance of distributed computing in today's business environment. I'm writing this introduction while visiting Rome on a business trip; it will be sent to our managing editor, Karen Pasley, for editing at her office in Florida; and from there it will be transmitted to the publisher's headquarters in Boston.

Ed Yourdon

Ed Yourdon was cofounder, with Karen Coburn, of Cutter Consortium. Ed served as Fellow of the Cutter Business Technology Council, and Founding Editor and Editor Emeritus of the Cutter IT Journal.
