Kathie Sowell
P. Kathie Sowell is a recognized leader in enterprise architecture (EA) with a worldwide reputation as an innovator, speaker, and educator. She has been named one of five “Pioneers of Enterprise Architecture” by the Society for Information Management, along with John Zachman, Larry DeBouver, Randy Hite, and Jeanne Ross. Through her company, Custom Enterprise Solutions, LLC, Ms. Sowell provides classroom and online instruction, leading to certification as an enterprise architect through National-Louis University (Illinois). Her Enterprise Architect Certification program, SowellEAC, has successfully trained and certified students in the government and private sector.
Ms. Sowell was the technical lead and principal author of the US Department of Defense’s C4ISR Architecture Framework and served as a consultant for its follow-on, the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DODAF). This framework is mandated for DoD architectures and is taught in universities and enterprise architect certification programs worldwide.
