Roberto Verganti is Professor of Management of Innovation, Politecnico di Milano, Italy, and Visiting Scholar in the Technology and Operations Management unit at the Harvard Business School, where he was also Fulbright Visiting Scholar in 1997-1998. His research explores the management of innovation, with a special focus on innovation driven by design and innovation in rapidly moving environments. Roberto Verganti has published more than 100 articles in journals, including the Harvard Business Review, Management Science, and the Journal of Product Innovation Management.

Among his current academic positions, Dr. Verganti is Professor of Design Management at the Executive MBA of the Copenhagen Business School; Adjunct Professor of Design Innovation Management at the University of Vaasa, Finland; Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Product Innovation Management; Associate Editor for the European Management Review; Member of the Board of the EIASM International Product Development Management Conference; and Member of the Advisory Council of the Design Management Institute, Boston.

Roberto Verganti was founder and first director (from 2000 through 2004) of the School of Doctoral Programs of Politecnico di Milano, one of the largest in Europe, with more than 800 PhD students. He was also founder and first director (from 2004 through 2007) of the Alta Scuola Politecnica, the school for interdisciplinary innovation at Politecnico di Milano and Politecnico di Torino; and a member of the Scientific Committee of the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM) between 2005 and 2007.

Dr. Verganti was awarded the Compasso d'Oro 2001, the most prestigious Design Award in Italy, for his research, Italian Design Systems. Roberto Verganti has given scientific seminars and classes in several universities worldwide, including the Harvard Business School, Rochester Institute of Technology, Lally School of Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute NY, Copenaghen Business School, Aalborg University, Chalmers University, Helsinki University of Technology, Warwick Business School, IAE, University of Buenos Aires, Massey University of Wellington, University of Otago, and Auckland University of Technology.
