Wil van der Aalst is a professor of information systems at the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven in the Netherlands. His research interests include workflow management, process mining, Petri nets, business process management, process modeling, and process analysis. Many of his papers are highly cited, and his ideas have influenced researchers, software developers, and standardization committees working on process support. Prof. van der Aalst is a founder of the Workflow Patterns Initiative and continues to guide its research activities. He is also committed to open source initiatives such as ProM and YAWL.
