Nicholas Carr's 2003 article "IT Doesn't Matter" 1 created quite a stir among IT professionals and business strategists. Carr asserted that IT exhibited all the characteristics of built-out infrastructural technologies with commonly available commoditized components. Therefore, the adoption of these technologies conferred, at best, the ability to reach parity in terms of IT-enabled competitive advantage.
