Richard Pethia
Richard Pethia manages the Trustworthy Systems Program at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI), a federally funded research and development center at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Trustworthy Systems Program focuses on improving trust in network-connected systems by: developing and transitioning tools and techniques that improve the security of existing systems; identifying, developing, and transitioning software engineering practices that lead to systems with improved security characteristics; and, through the CERT Coordination Center, conducting security incident response activities and fostering the development of incident response infrastructures that lead to rapid correction of vulnerabilities and resolution of incidents. Prior to joining the SEI, Mr. Pethia held technical and management positions at the Learning Research and Development Center, Modular Computer Corporation, and Decision Data Computer Company. His work has focused primarily on operating systems, telecommunications, and networking. He holds a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh.
