Danette McGilvray is President and Principal of Granite Falls Consulting, Inc., a firm that helps organizations increase their success by addressing the information quality and data governance aspects of their business efforts. Focusing on bottom-line results, Ms. McGilvray and her team promote the intentional management of information assets with the same rigor used to manage other company assets such as products and human and financial resources. A skilled facilitator, program, and project manager, she has worked with people in all levels of the organization and from all functional areas, giving her a valuable perspective on organizational challenges. Ms. McGilvray also emphasizes communication and the human aspect of information quality and governance.
Ms. McGilvray is the author of Executing Data Quality Projects: Ten Steps to Quality Data and Trusted Information. An internationally respected expert, her Ten StepsTM approach to information quality has been embraced as a proven method for creating and managing information and data quality projects in the enterprise. This approach, in which she has consulted with Fortune 500 clients and trained thousands of workshop attendees, applies to all types of data and all organizations. It is the first data quality book translated into Chinese. Ms. McGilvray's chapter "Data Quality Projects and Programs" in the Handbook of Data Quality explains the fundamentals of successful data quality projects and formal data quality programs. She provides practical solutions based on real situations and challenges. In addition, the International Association for Information and Data Quality (IAIDQ) awarded Ms. McGilvray with its Distinguished Member Award in recognition of her "outstanding contributions to the field of information and data quality." She is also the recipient of the Utah State University Jon M. Huntsman School of Business Professional Achievement Award. Ms. McGilvray has been profiled in PC Week and HP Measure Magazine.
