In its simplest terms, master data management (MDM) is the ability of a company to control and validate data used to conduct business. Over the years, there have been more complicated and esoteric definitions, but at its core, MDM gives companies the security and confidence to control their data and to affirm, with a measurable degree of accuracy, the reliability of the data when compared to a corporate or departmental standard.
