William A. Zucker is a partner at McCarter & English, LLP, in its Boston office. Mr. Zucker has served in a number of special capacities including being a special assistant attorney general for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to investigate the construction and design issues arising from the construction of the Central Artery/Tunnel currently know as the Big Dig. Mr. Zucker has litigated a number of leading cases in the areas of construction, foreign sovereign immunity, securities and issues concerning shareholder demand and the role of independent counsel, the investigation of the largest corporate fraud prior to Enron and the representation of the bankruptcy trustee in obtaining the return of key assets and more recently the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.

Starting in 1998, Mr. Zucker has led teams of intellectual property lawyers who partnered with various information technology service partners to develop wrap around solutions for technology and outsourcing problems. This representation has included all aspects of technology licensing, vender relationships, protection of intellectual property and outsourcing. Mr. Zucker's outsourcing work stemmed in part from his acting for a series of clients in mergers and acquisition transactions and led to his becoming a senior risk and outsourcing advisor for Cutter Consortium. More recently, because of his work in international arbitration, Mr. Zucker was asked to chair the committee of the International Institute of Conflict Prevention and Resolutions developing the new Global Accelerated Rules for Commercial Arbitration. Those rules have been published and are finding support in the business community. Mr. Zucker has also tried cases in the areas of intellectual property (i.e. trade secret, computer security and internet matters, patent, trademark, copyright), product liability, construction and a wide variety of business disputes and torts involving, for example, fiduciary obligations, securities, partnerships and joint venture disagreements, real estate disputes, employment and non-competition disputes. 

Mr. Zucker is a co-author in the Computer Security Handbook published by John Wiley and advises clients on the issues surrounding data security and identity theft. He has written the chapter on business litigation for the guide for Massachusetts lawyers published by MCLE.  He serves as an arbitrator and mediator. He is on the arbitration panels for the American Arbitration Association, the International Center for Dispute Resolution and the International Institute of Conflict Prevention and Resolution. He has lectured on trial practice and has received recognition for his trial practice record in Martindale & Hubbard and in Super Lawyers (2004-2014), both within Massachusetts and on a national basis.
