Phil Laplante
Phil Laplante is Professor of Software and Systems Engineering at Pennsylvania State University and a visiting computer scientist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), working on issues related to the Internet of Things and blockchain. Previously, he was a software development professional, technology executive, college president, and entrepreneur. Dr. Laplante has worked in avionics, computer-aided design, and software testing systems and is a frequent technology advisor to senior executives, investors, entrepreneurs, and attorneys. He has published 37 books and more than 300 scholarly papers. Dr. Laplante is a Fellow of the IEEE and SPIE and has won international awards for his teaching, research, and service. He is a licensed professional engineer and a certified software development professional. Dr. Laplante earned a bachelor of science degree, a master’s of English degree, and a PhD from Stevens Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of Colorado.
