Dirk Wittowsky
Dirk Wittowsky is Professor of Mobility and Urban Planning at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, with more than 20 years’ experience as a researcher and practitioner. His research interests focus on the development and design of sustainable transport systems, travel behavior and transport modeling, digitalization, and intelligent mobility. Dr. Wittowsky is also board member of the University of Duisburg-Essen’s Centre for Logistics and Traffic and the Ministry of Transport of North Rhine-Westphalia’s Future Mobility Network. Previously, he was a Project Manager and researcher at the Hessian State Office for Road and Transport; a Senior Analyst for transport demand and modeling at Deutsche Bahn AG; and led the research group Daily Mobility and Transportation System at the Research Institute for Regional and Urban Development, concentrating on the development and design of sustainable transport systems and residential structures. Dr. Wittowsky studied civil engineering with a focus on sustainable transport systems and earned a PhD from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany, in public transport information and user acceptance.
